2026 NAWIC Scholarship Recipients
The recipients of the 2026 National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Executive Leadership Scholarship and Emerging Leadership Scholarship were announced on Friday 6 March at the NSW NAWIC annual International Women’s Day luncheon.
The $15,000 Emerging Leader Scholarship was awarded to Isabel Duffy, Principal Structural Engineer at Northrop. A strategic leader on major projects, Isabel is a strong advocate for gender equity and a 2024 UDIA Women in Leadership Award winner. She leads initiatives to increase women in management and. She is also a co-founder of Tomorrow’s Women in Construction, which places young women into work experience.
Isabel will use the scholarship to complete a Graduate Certificate of Social Impact and the Accelerated Leadership Program at UNSW AGSM.
The $30,000 Executive Leadership Scholarship was awarded to Nishmin Hallam, Director at TTW. Nishmin has progressed from cadet to the firm’s first female Technical Director, delivering major projects across health, education, aged care and aviation. A committed advocate for women in engineering, she mentors widely, contributing to NAWIC, the Property Council, Engineers Australia and Consult Australia initiatives. As an ACSE (Association of Consulting Structural Engineers) Board member, she also helped launch the WISE (Women in Structural Engineering) program to increase visibility and support for women in structural engineering.
Nishmin will use the scholarship to complete the Advanced Management Program at Melbourne Business School.
Held during International Women’s Week, the event celebrated the achievements and impact of women across the property, design, engineering and construction industries. The scholarships are supported by the NSW Government Women in Construction program in partnership with NAWIC NSW.
