Blackwattle Bay Redevelopment Reaches Major Milestone

The transformation of Blackwattle Bay has taken a significant step forward, with the NSW Government and Mirvac signing a contract to redevelop the former Sydney Fish Market site into a vibrant new waterfront precinct for the community.

This milestone locks in the next stage of renewal along Sydney Harbour’s western foreshore – bringing Sydneysiders closer to a revitalised harbour destination that combines homes, public space and world class design.

The first stage of works will deliver a new waterfront boardwalk, completing the missing link in the 15km Harbour Walk from Woolloomooloo to Rozelle Bay. A 30m wide promenade will open up previously inaccessible foreshore areas, creating a place to walk, cycle and gather right by the water.

Once complete, the Blackwattle Bay precinct will feature around 1,400 new homes, more than 3 hectares of public open space, and a mix of retail and commercial uses – forming a connected, thriving community next to the new Sydney Fish Market and key active transport links.

Renewal is already underway, with the 1.1 hectare Bank Street Park being delivered beneath the Anzac Bridge in partnership with BESIX Watpac, contributing to a total 3.4 hectares of new public space reconnecting the community with Sydney Harbour.
