Construction Commences at Bank Street Park
Construction is underway at Bank Street Park, a new 1.1 hectare public park surrounding the southern pylons of the iconic Anzac Bridge.
The park will be the first green space delivered as part of the revitalisation of Blackwattle Bay, following the successful opening of the new Sydney Fish Market.
Building on the community’s strong support for the Pop Up Park, the new park will deliver inclusive spaces, including:
- a playground, multipurpose court and fitness station
- open lawns and First Nations inspired shelter structures
- public amenities and provisions for outdoor food trucks and coffee carts
- a pontoon for kayak water access and dragon boat storage
- new footpaths and cycleways linking into the future 15km ‘Harbour Walk’ from Rozelle Bay to Woolloomooloo.
In a first for the NSW Government, construction partner BESIX Watpac working towards 50% participation of women across the project lifecycle, well above the industry average of 12%.
