Extension of construction working hours
Construction sites can now operate on weekends and public holidays under new rules introduced by the NSW Government to support the industry during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Environmental Planning and Assessment (COVID-19 Development – Construction Work Days) Order 2020 is now in place. The move allows workers to abide by social distancing rules while keeping construction projects progressing by allowing building work to be spread across more days of the week.
The Sydney Football Stadium Redevelopment will initially extend working hours on Saturdays from 8am to 1pm, to 7am to 6pm – with most works expected to be completed by 3pm.
The changes were announced by the Planning and Public Spaces Minister Rob Stokes on 2 April 2020.
