Main building works complete at Powerhouse Parramatta
Infrastructure NSW has marked the completion of main building works at Powerhouse Parramatta, a nationally significant cultural infrastructure project and the largest museum ever built in New South Wales.
Delivered in partnership with Lendlease, the landmark comprises more than 18,000 square metres of public and exhibition space across 7 exhibition areas, including Australia’s largest volume column-free exhibition space.
The completion of main works represents a major milestone for the project and signals its transition into exhibition installation and final public domain works ahead of the museum opening later this year.
The project delivered strong economic and community outcomes throughout construction. More than 4,000 workers contributed over 2.7 million hours of work, with three-quarters of the workforce from Western Sydney. In addition, $329 million was awarded to Western Sydney businesses, supporting local jobs, skills development and industry participation.
Opening in late 2026, Powerhouse Parramatta will be a major cultural destination for New South Wales, providing new opportunities for learning, creativity and community connection, and reinforcing Parramatta’s role as a thriving cultural and economic centre.
