Construction completed: New Sydney Fish Market Set to Open in January 2026

Construction of the new Sydney Fish Market is now complete, marking a major milestone for this world-class project.

The keys have officially been handed over to Sydney Fish Market Pty Ltd for final fit-outs and testing ahead of its grand opening on 19 January 2026

Located on the edge of Blackwattle Bay, the new market offers double the retail space, diverse dining options, and stunning waterfront views. Visitors will also be able to experience the energy of live fish auctions through the building’s striking glass façade.

Beyond the market itself, the precinct features 6,000m² of accessible public space and 5 creative installations that honour First Nations heritage and the site’s industrial past.

Designed by 3XN/GXN Architects, in association with BVN and ASPECT Studios, and constructed by Multiplex, the new Sydney Fish Market redefines the city’s skyline with its bold and sustainable design. The building integrates complex engineering with state-of-the-art facilities, delivering expanded retail, dining, and cultural spaces.

The project has also delivered significant economic benefits, creating more than 700 jobs during construction, supporting over 700 ongoing roles, and awarding more than $670 million in contracts to Australian businesses.

The new Sydney Fish Market is set to become a vibrant hub for locals and visitors alike.
