Powerhouse Parramatta Reaches Major Construction Milestone

Western Sydney’s largest cultural infrastructure project, Powerhouse Parramatta, has reached 85% completion.

Set to open in late 2026, 5 of its 7 exhibition spaces and the Lang Walker Family Academy are now built, with the next phase focusing on exhibition fit-outs.

Constructed by Lendlease, the site has seen nearly 3,500 workers contribute more than 2.1 million hours. Once completed, it will be the largest museum in New South Wales, offering 18,000 square metres of exhibition and public space.

Powerhouse Parramatta is also setting sustainability benchmarks, becoming the first public building in Australia to be rated 6 Star Designed under the Green Building Council of Australia’s new Green Star Buildings rating tool.

Public domain works will follow, creating a 24-hour accessible precinct linking Parramatta Square to the riverfront and future Metro West.
