Barangaroo breaks ground on solar farms
Barangaroo’s sustainability plan has reached a major milestone with construction starting at the first two regional solar farms in Hay and Moama.
This initiative is part of a commitment to ensure that the precinct remains carbon neutral well into the future.
The Hay and Moama Solar Farms are among at least four regional solar farms to be delivered through the NSW Government’s $48 million green energy commitment to secure Barangaroo’s carbon neutral future over 25 years. This marks the first long-term agreement of its kind.
Construction of the Hay and Moama solar farms is expected to take approximately six months to build, with two additional solar farms scheduled for completion in 2025.
The Green Product Purchase Agreement is the latest initiative in Barangaroo’s sustainability ambitions to be a reference to the world. Barangaroo is Australia’s first large-scale Carbon Neutral Precinct.
Other sustainability initiatives rolled out at Barangaroo include on-site rooftop solar panels, a recycled water plant and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
